* During her youth Debbie Reynolds had ambitions of becoming a physical education teacher.

* In 1948, when Debbie Reynolds was only 16, she entered the Miss Burbank beauty contest & won. The very next day Debbie Reynolds  was offered a Warner Brothers screen test. The rest is history. It wasn't long after this that her film career began. Debbie Reynolds made her film debut in June Bride (1948). Other film roles continued, most of them in her early years being MGM musicals.

* In 1952 Debbie Reynolds received her big break when she was chosen by Gene Kelly to co-star with him in the all-time musical classic "Singin' in the Rain".

* In 1955 Debbie Reynolds married actor/singer Eddie Fisher. They were considered at the time "America's Perfect Couple".

* In 1956 Debbie & Eddie starred together in the motion picture "Bundle of Joy".

* In 1957 Debbie Reynolds starred opposite Leslie Nielsen in the romantic teen drama "Tammy and the Bachelor". The  title song "Tammy" was sung by Debbie Reynolds & was a top 10 hit.
