"Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead" looks at the comical adventures and mishaps of five brothers & sisters, when their mom goes on vacation & leaves them under the care of a nasty old babysitter. Christina Applegate of "Married With Children" fame is given her first big-screen starring role in this madcap teen comedy. When the babysitter dies the children have to fend for themselves, with the oldest sister, Sue Ellen (Christina Applegate) left in charge & having to get a job in order to support the children. When I first saw "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead" at the cinema, it was during a school holiday period, the cinema was packed with teenagers and I can't forget the presence of a group of rowdy boy scouts who were obviously big fans of "Married With Children" and of course Christina Applegate. The film would go on to gross over $25 million at the American box office and at the "1992 MTV Movie Awards" Christina Applegate was nominated for "Most Desirable Female". With the popularity expressed by those young boy scouts at the cinema screening it was a wonder she didn't win the award. Also, look out for David Duchovny in a supporting role, long before he became the star of the popular TV series "The X-Files". "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead is a fun film full of outrageous situations that I am sure all teens will enjoy.
