TEEN MOVIE NEWS
February 20th 2001 - Word is out, that the teen movie genre will be given the spoof treatment. Shooting starts later this month.The working title of the film was originally "10 things I Hate About Clueless Road Trips When I Can't Hardly Wait To Be Kissed ". The title has since been changed to "Teen Movie".  A whole host of teen actors will star. I can't wait to see this one hit cinemas.
March 9th 2001 - "Get Over It" is the hot new teen film just released in American cinemas today. The cast include Kirsten Dunst, fresh from last year's smash hit "Bring It On" & famous new singing sensation Sisqo, singer of the popular "Thong Song". Word is, Martin Short is hilarious in a brief cameo role, as a youthful theatre director. A comment from one viewer was "One of the most original teen comedies to hit theatres since the 80's". Looks like this film is going to be a big hit.
March 18th 2001 - Australian cinemas have just begun showing trailers for "Save The Last Dance", the new teen dance musical starring Julia Stiles. It opened in the USA mid-January & is due for release in Australia on April 5th. The film had a budget of only $13 million but has already grossed over $80 million in the US alone. The film is certain to be a smash in Australia as well.
March 13th 2001 - "Dude Where's My Car" is coming to Australian cinemas March 29th. Ashton Kutcher star of the film is currently in Australia promoting it. He can be seen tonight on Australian television in an exclusive interview on "Rove Live" at 9:30pm on channel 10. "Dude" was made on a budget of $13 million & has currently grossed over $45 million in the USA. We have another Teen Movie smash hit.
March 17th 2001 - Tonight on NBC television in the USA, popular teen movie actress, Julia Stiles will be hosting "Saturday Night Live". She will also be presenting an award on oscar night, March 25th. It is also rumoured that Julia will appear on the cover of the April edition of Rolling Stone magazine.
March 5th 2001 - The cast & crew of the inovative Teen Movie, "American Graffiti" have been honoured by the American Film Institute at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival.  The film, realeased in 1973, grossed more than $100 million at the box office & established the careers of Harrison Ford, Richard Dreyfus, Cindy Williams, Ron Howard & Film maker George Lucas.
March 26th 2001 - This years Academy Awards have just taken place. Congratulations goes out to Writer/Director Cameron Crowe of the Teen Movie "Almost Famous". Cameron won the Oscar for Best Screenplay written directly for the screen. This years Best Picture Oscar went to the Roman Epic "Gladiator" & the Best Director Oscar was won by Steven Soderbergh for "Traffic". Australian actor Russell Crowe won the Best Actor Oscar for "Gladiator". Everybody's  favourite Julia Roberts won the Best Actress oscar for "Erin Brockovich". The Best Supporting Actor Oscar went to Benicio Del Toro for his work in "Traffic" while the Best Supporting Actress Oscar went to Marcia Gay Hardin for "Pollock".  
March 30th 2001 - Freddie Prinze Jr. & girlfriend Sarah Michelle Gellar are currently filming the live-action version of "Scooby Doo" in Australia. The word is out that wedding bells for the two are just around the corner. Check out this exclusive pic from the "Scooby Doo" set.
March 29th 2001 - "Dude Where's My Car" has hit Australian cinemas right around the country today. Not a critical success but teens are packing the cinemas to see it. Make sure you see the film before watching the preview, as Oscar host Steve Martin said on the big night, he watched the preview & it ruined it for him. These days they just give too much away in the preview.
July 4th 2001 - The comedic teen horror flick "Scary Movie 2" opens in Amercian Cinemas today.  Anna Faris along with Marlon and Shawn Wayans reprise their roles in this sequel to the original horror spoof which grossed over $260 million.
August 22nd 2001: The Teen comedy "American Pie 2" has remained in the first place position at the American box office for a second week running. Box office figures are now getting very close to $90 million dollars. Also Reese Witherspoon's hit "Legally Blonde" has passed the $80 million dollar mark. Not bad for a film made on a budget of only $18 million dollars.

December 20th 2001 - Drew Barrymore & husband, comedian Tom Green, have announced their seperation after only 5 months of marriage.
