In the tradition of "Highlander" & The Matrix" comes "The One", the latest instalment of Jet Li's assault on American cinema audiences. For action fans "The One" is a highly entertaining cinema experience. Jet Li is at his martial arts best & the amazing state of the art special effects combine well with his extraordinary kung fu skills.
The plot is straightforward but nevertheless engaging. A homicidal criminal travels from one universe to another killing all duplicates of himself & in the process he becomes stronger & stronger with each kill. Jet Li is excellent in his dual role & seems to be hamming it up playing both hero & villain. The special effects in the final confrontation between Jet Li & himself are so amazing that you have to see them to believe them. "The One" is Kung Fu / Sci Fi at its best. It is a fast-paced action packed extravaganza that will certainly be enjoyed by fans of the genre. "The One" is certain to develop a following worldwide & is sure to become a campy cult classic on the late night movie circuit.
