FILM REVIEW :
"Freeway" is a gripping & at times disturbing portrait of a troubled young girl (Reese Witherspoon) from an unstable family (mother a prostitute & step-father, a drug addicted sexual molester) who sets out alone, on a dangerous freeway in search of a grandmother she has never met. During her travels her car breaks down & she is forced to hitch a ride with Bob Wolverton (Kiefer Sutherland). As the drama unfolds it turns out that Bob is not the man he pretends to be.
Reese Witherspoon puts in an excellent performance as the disturbed teenager & proves in this film to be one of the most outstanding talents of her generation. Kiefer Sutherland also puts in a convincing performance & by the end of the film his portrayal of Bob Wolverton is somewhat tongue in-cheek. Also, look out for Brooke Shields in a small role as Bob's unsuspecting wife. "Freeway" is a gritty, modern-day retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood fable. It is an explicit thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
