The most legendary movie monster of all time descends on New York City, leaving total destruction in its colossal wake. Now, the future of humanity is in the hands of an unlikely band of heroes in this giant lizard thriller.
Godzilla: Tony's Comments
A lot was expected from this big budget American version of the famous 400-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex known to filmgoers as "Godzilla". The cinema teasers and the marketing catchphrase "Size Does Matter" were very good and built up high viewer expectations that were never fulfilled. On it's initial run "Godzilla" proved to be a real fizzer with critics and audiences, but today on video and DVD the film has developed a cult following and has survived to live another day. Despite its criticisms "Godzilla" is still a remarkable achievement in creature feature special effects and fans of the genre won't be disappointed. Maybe all it lacked was a cameo appearance by Godzilla legend Raymond Burr?
