FILM REVIEW :
"Kate and Leopold" is a romantic time-travel comedy about a 19th century Englishman that finds himself falling through a time portal and ending up in 21st century New York. Australian actor Hugh Jackman is charming as Leopold, the time travelling gentleman who woos Kate, a modern-day marketing executive played by Meg Ryan. This lightweight fish out of water comedy is enjoyable enough but could have benefited from a better-defined time travel scenario. At the 2002 Academy Awards "Kate and Leopold" was nominated for the Sting song "Until", but it missed out. However, at the Golden Globe Awards it did win for "Best Song" and Hugh Jackman's refined performance earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy. "Kate and Leopold" is an old-fashioned, feel-good romantic fantasy that should have special appeal with Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman fans.
