In "Code of Silence", Chuck Norris plays tough Chicago cop Eddie Cusack. It is his big-screen version of Dirty Harry & with Chuck in the lead his martial artistry raises some additionally interest. The plot sees Norris caught in the middle of a gang war & it is up to him to rescue an innocent girl who has been kidnapped. Chuck also has to bring to justice a veteran cop who was involved in the accidental shooting of an unarmed young man. Norris is confronted with the unthinkable task of breaking the "Code of Silence", that is, testifying against a fellow police officer.
Andrew Davis, the director of "Code of Silence" later achieved success with the Steven Seagal actioner "Under Siege" (1992) & the critically acclaimed Harrison Ford thriller "The Fugitive" (1993)."Code of Silence" puts Chicago locations to good use, has plenty of Chuck style action & co-stars veteran Hollywood bad guy Henry Silva as Luis Comacho. This film attempted to turn Chuck into an A-list action star & given the right material he shows he certainly had the ability to become one. If you like Chuck Norris & Dirty Harry style cop films you should find "Code of Silence" an enjoyable piece of escapism.
