TONY'S COMMENTS :

"Mad Max" is the film that put Mel Gibson on the map & helped to establish him as an international celebrity. The film is set in a desolate landscape in the not too distant future. Mel plays a cop who sets out to avenge the death of his partner, his wife & his child. They are viciously murdered by a gang of madmen who roam the highways.

"Mad Max is an exciting but bleak look into the future. The film contains a cavalcade of high-speed stunts & crazed characters. "Mad Max" has become a landmark Australian film & has spawned 2 successful sequels, Mad Max 2 (also known as The Road Warrior) &  Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome co-starring Tina Turner.

In the late 90's "Mad Max" made it into the Guinness Book of Records for the highest profit-to-cost ratio of a motion picture. The film cost approximately $400,000 to make & made over $100 million worldwide. Also, it has been reported that Mel Gibson recieved only $15,000 salary for his work on the film. "Mad Max" is extremely violent at times but is nevertheless rivetting entertainment that should please action fans & any one wanting to see a young Mel Gibson applying his craft.
