"The Porky's Trilogy" Tony's Comments :
The original "Porky's" is the raunchy teen sex comedy that became the sleeper hit of its year & spawned two sequels. It has become the yardstick by which all other teen sex comedies are measured. Set in 1950's Florida it follows the exploits of a bunch of high school boys as they try to come to grips with puberty, girls and sex. The movie is jam-packed with hysterical situations including the unforgettable shower scene. "Porky's" was made on a budget of only $4 million & grossed over $105 million in the US alone. "Porky's II: The Next Day", although not as successful as the original was nevertheless a fun film. What it lacked was the absence of Chuck Mitchell (Porky), whose presence in the first film lifted it above the norm. This time round the gang decides to stage "An Evening With Shakespeare" at their high school. When teacher, Miss Balbricker (Nancy Parsons) views their stage play as obscene the boys get up to the usual hilarious hi-jinks. "Porky's Revenge" the third installment of the trilogy is considered by fans to be better than the second. It sees the return of Porky (Chuck Mitchell) and the continuation of the conflict between Porky and the boys. After the demolition of Porky's nightclub, by the boys in the first film, Porky is back with a bigger and better set up, this time a lavish clubhouse on a river boat. For "Porky's Revenge", veteran TV director James Komack (Welcome Back Kotter, Get Smart, My Favourite Martian) took over direction from Bob Clark (who directed the first two) and does an excellent job in generating laughs and maintaining the essence and quality that made the original film so popular. "Porky's Revenge" is a fitting finale to a fine trilogy of teen comedies. Don't miss these 80's teen classics.
