Rumble In The Bronx : Video Synopsis

No one brings more death-defying entertainment to the screen than fearless martial arts superstar Jackie Chan. In this awe-inspiring and often amusing action-thriller, Chan outdoes himself with the most eye-popping stunts ever filmed, each more amazing than the last! Chan plays Keong, a Hong Kong cop who gets more than he bargained for when he visits relatives in a crime-ridden section of New York. Soon Keong is brawling with Mafia kingpins and unleasing his lethal skills on unsuspecting thugs. From the first astonishing action sequence to the last, in which Chan is matched against a giant hovercraft in a deadly show of brute strength, "Rumble In The Bronx" is the year's definitive action adventure film... one you have to see to believe!

Rumble In The Bronx: Tony's Comments

Made on a budget of  $7.5 million and grossing over $32 million in the United States alone,  "Rumble In The Bronx" was Jackie Chan's first film to hit the big-time with American audiences. This delightful tongue-in-cheek action comedy sees Kung Fu genius Jackie Chan at his acrobatic best. He arrives in the US, direct from China, to visit relatives who own a grocery store in a bad part of town. In order to protect his uncle's store Jackie must take on the heavies of New York's Bronx, which include vicious street gangs and the local mafia. Although set in the Bronx this exciting fish out of water story was mostly shot on location in Vancouver, Canada. Director Stanley Tong, who began his career as a stunt man, does an excellent job of keeping the action and the laughs flowing at a rapid pace. Jackie Chan is the ultimate comedic action hero performing all his own stunts with great slapstick timing. As many fans know Jackie has a tendency to injury himself while performing stunts and this film is no exception. Jackie broke his right ankle while attempting a stunt involving a jump onto a hovercraft. Make sure you keep watching the end credits for some hilarious outtakes, which have now become a trademark of Jackie Chan movies. If you haven't seen "Rumble In The Bronx" do yourself a favour and treat yourself to 90 minutes of pure fun.
