Molly Ringwald

* Molly's mother was a chef & her father was the famous blind jazz musician Bob Ringwald.

* At age 3 Molly Ringwald began singing Jazz with her father at state fairs & at age 5 she starred in a stage production of "Alice in Wonderland".

* Molly was 6 years old when she recorded her first jazz album "I Wanna Be Loved By You".

* Molly Ringwald's acting career began with television roles on "The Mickey Mouse Club" & "The Facts of Life". This led to her first film role in "Tempest" in 1982.

* In 1983 Molly Ringwald co-starred with Peter Strauss in the 3-D Sci-fi actioner "Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone".

* Then came the 3 classic teen films that established her career & made her a household name: 16 Candles (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985) & Pretty In Pink (1986). The first two were directed by famous teen film-maker John Hughes.

* Molly Ringwald was listed as one of 12 "promising new actors of 1984" in "Screen World" & in 1986 she made the cover of "Time Magazine".

* In no time at all Molly Ringwald had become a member of the group of actors known as "The Brat Pack" & established herself as the "Teen Queen of the 1980's".

* In 1987 Molly starred in "The Pick Up Artist" with Robert Downey Jr. This film & her next three "Fresh Horses" (1988), "For Keeps" (1988) & Betsy's Wedding (1990) were only moderately successful.

* In 1990 Molly Ringwald turned down the Julia Roberts role in "Pretty Woman".

* Unfortunately Molly Ringwald's film career in the 90's went into a bit of a slump. It was during this time that she moved to France, learnt the language, got married & even appeared in a French Film "Enfants de Salaud".

* In 1994 Molly returned to America to star in the mini-series "The Stand" with Rob Lowe & also to appear in the ABC television series "Townies".

* In 1999 Molly Ringwald had a small cameo role in "Teaching Mrs Tingle" with "Dawson's Creek" star Katie Holmes.

* In 2000 Molly Ringwald came to Australia to judge the "Tropfest Film Festival" & also to promote her new Aussie horror flick "Cut".

* These days Molly Ringwald is selective in her film roles & seems quite content to appear in quality independent films.

* In 2001 Molly Ringwald made an amusing uncredited cameo in the finale of the spoof "Not Another Teen Movie". Molly played a wise airline clerk.
