YOR THE HUNTER FROM THE FUTURE at HOLLYWOOD TEEN MOVIES

He is from a future world. Trapped in prehistoric times. Searching for his past. A hunter of incredible power and strength. In his quest for his origin, he and the woman he loves must fight hostile tribes, battle deadly beasts and try to survive the violent forces of a newly born earth.

"Yor The Hunter From The Future" Tony's Comments:
"Yor The Hunter From The Future" is one of those cheesy action/adventure flicks that were churned out during the 1980's, in the wake of the successful Arnold Schwarzenegger blockbuster "Conan The Barbarian". The first thing that appears on the screen is a pinnacle rock formation amidst a desert landscape with a credit in red print stating "A Film By Anthony M. Dawson". As it turns out Anthony M. Dawson is in fact an alias for Italian director Antonio Margheriti who began his career making Italian peplum films in the 1960's. Moments later a young beefed up Reb Brown, complete with 1970's style long blonde hair and a gold medallion around his neck, comes running out of the caves carrying a tomahawk and wearing a Tarzan like loin cloth. He runs towards the camera and when he's in full close-up, he turns, looks directly at the lens with a big cheesy grin, he then takes a few deep breaths, smiles and continues to run through the rocky terrain. From this moment onwards you know the film should not be taken seriously. Whilst the introductory credits are rolling and "Yor" continues with his early morning jog we are treated to the catchy sound of "Yor's World", a tune composed by Italian musicians Guido and Maurizio De Angelis, better known as "Oliver Onions". Fans of the Terence Hill & Bud Spencer comedies should know them, as they are the team responsible for the music in many of their films.

It is interesting to note that at the "1984 Razzie Awards" Reb Brown was up against the mighty Lou Ferrigno (who had just released his version of "Hercules") for the award of "Worst New Star". Unfortunately for Reb Brown he missed out on this prestigious award. Lou Ferrigno won hands down. Despite being bashed by some critics "Yor The Hunter From The Future" has still managed to develop a cult following around the world. The film has enough in it to entertain most people. It is well paced, action-packed and features a nice helping of prehistoric monsters. The excitement is also complemented by good location shooting in Turkey. Yor's existence in a pre-historic land has a link to the future and his only clue is the gold medallion he wears around his neck. Yor sets out on a journey to discover his own identity. He has worn the medallion for as long as he can remember but he does not know where it came from. Yor's search is our adventure. "Yor The Hunter From The Future" is a campy, cult classic, that can be enjoyed by all ages, but children in particular should find it great fun.
