Steven Seagal makes an impressive film debut playing Nico Toscani, an ex-CIA Vietnam agent who is now working for the Chicago police department. When Nico becomes involved in a major drug raid, prime suspects are set free, and Nico is asked to hand in his badge. This little setback however, is not about to keep Nico off the mean streets of Chicago for too long. This was Seagal's first outing as the tough cop and is certainly a memorable one. Many of his fans consider this to be his best on-screen performance. He looks lean, mean, dangerous and slick. He is extremely fit and knows how to pack a punch. The action sequences are handled well by director Andrew Davis (who would later thrill audiences with the blockbuster "The Fugitive") who was able to make Seagal look extremely lethal. Also look out for Sharon Stone in support as Seagal's wife and veteran screen villain Henry Silva as Zargon the drug lord. For bone crunching thrills, Seagal-style, look no further; "Above The Law" delivers the goods in style.
