Dino De Laurentiis' "Flash Gordon" is an exciting update of the classic 1930's serial that starred Buster Crabbe. In this 1980's version of the popular comic book superhero, we see real-life football star Sam J. Jones take on the role of space traveler "Flash Gordon". The film features excellent production values, elaborate sets & inventive costume design. In this story, like the original, Flash does battle with Ming the Merciless, played menacingly by veteran character actor Max Von Sydow.

"Flash Gordon" is full of highlights, the most memorable being the exciting showdown between Flash Gordon (Sam J. Jones) & Prince Barin (Timothy Dalton). The battle takes place on a revolving, spike filled stage, with Prince Vultan (Brian Blessed) controlling the stage tilt & spikes with his remote control device. When viewed the sequence is unforgettable to say the least, it will remain etched in your mind for a long time afterwards. An excellent cast & a dynamic music score by "Queen" complement this above average space adventure. "Flash Gordon" is a great night of entertainment, any night of the week.
