Veteran Hollywood director Henry Hathaway is in form for "North To Alaska" an action-packed western comedy that displays "The Duke's" lighter side. Although John Wayne never starred in too many comedies, "North To Alaska" proved that he had an uncanny comedic flair. 1960's teen idol and heartthrob Fabian Forte also puts in a solid performance, showing that he is not just a pretty face with a good voice but a talented actor that could make audiences laugh. When Sam (John Wayne) & George (Stewart Granger) strike gold in Alaska, George sends Sam to Seattle to bring back his fiancé. The fun starts when Sam finds out that George's fiancé is already married. Sam returns to Alaska with saloon girl Angel (Capucine). All three men, Sam, George and little Billy (Fabian) fall madly in love with Angel. To add to the proceedings conman Frankie (Ernie Kovacs), tries to steal their gold. "North To Alaska" features one of the biggest and funniest saloon fights ever staged in a western. This unforgettable, all in brawl begins in a saloon and finishes up in the muddy streets of an Alaskan town. "North To Alaska" is old-fashioned Hollywood entertainment at its best and if the mud fight doesn't grab you, the memorable title song certainly will.
