Laslo Benedek's "The Wild One", may seem tame by today's standards, but it was banned in Britain by the Board of film censors until 1967 because the subject matter at the time was considered to be controversial & violent.

"The Wild One" was the first motorcycle film to achieve cult status. Originally titled "Hot Blood" it was also one of the first films to capture special attention from teen audiences around the globe. The sale of black leather jackets & motorcycles went through the roof after its release. The film's poster with Brando on his motorcycle still sells today.

The film's popularity can be attributed to Marlon Brando's excellent portrayal of the brooding leather-clad Johnny, leader of the Black Rebels motorcycle gang. Look out for a very young Lee Marvin as one of the bikies. Brando & his thugs raise havoc as they ride into a small American town & terrorise the inhabitants. The film's storyline is said to have been loosely based on an actual event that took place in California, USA.

If you had to pick one line of dialogue that sums up the essence of Brando's rebellious character, it would have to be his response to Mary Murphy's question: "What are you rebelling against?" Brando replies, "Whatever you've got".

Watch "The Wild One" & witness for yourself the dangerous excitement of the film that shook America & inspired a dozen wannabe imitations.
