"Tarzan's Deadly Silence" Tony's Comments:
In 1966 Ron Ely became TV's first Tarzan. The Tarzan TV Series ran for about 3 years and during that time there were 5 double episodes. In some parts of the world these double episodes were released in cinemas as feature movies. "Tarzan's Deadly Silence" is one of those movies. The other four are "Tarzan's Jungle Rebellion", "Tarzan And The Mountains Of The Moon", "Tarzan And The Perils Of Charity Jones" and "Tarzan And The Four O'Clock Army". All the Ron Ely movies are enjoyable entries in the Tarzan series but there is something special about "Tarzan's Deadly Silence" that makes it standout above the other 4. In this one Ron Ely's co-star is none other than former Tarzan actor Jock Mahoney (Tarzan Goes To India, Tarzan's Three Challenges"), who seems to be having a ball of a time playing the vicious whip-cracking villain. Also, along for the ride is popular Tarzan regular Woody Strode (Tarzan's Fight For Life" & "Tarzan's Three Challenges") whose presence in any movie always adds to the proceedings. In this rollicking jungle adventure Tarzan loses his hearing in a bomb blast and then has to use all his animal instincts and survival skills when he is hunted down like an animal by the menacing El Jocko. Unfortunately "Tarzan's Deadly Silence" has never been available on DVD and is even very difficult to track down on VHS. If you are a Tarzan fan and you do happen to get an opportunity to see it, it's well worth a look at.
