"The Giant Of Metropolis" DVD Synopsis:
Gordon Mitchell stars in this sc-fi masterpiece of Italian Cinema, certainly one of the rarest of all Sword & Sandal Epics. See a futuristic city run by a gaggle of maniacs and loaded with beautiful Dames, Monsters, Tidal Waves and Torture Devices that would make Flash Gordon cringe.

"The Giant Of Metropolis" Tony's Comments:
“The Giant Of Metropolis” is a sci-fi peplum starring blonde Korean War veteran and part-time schoolteacher Gordon Mitchell in his 2nd Italian made epic, the first being “Atlas In The Land Of The Cyclops” (1961). This inventive (for the early 60's) spectacle is loaded with campy feats of strength, larger than-life-villains, lavish cardboard sets and a musical soundtrack that would make “Ed Wood” proud. The print that I was fortunate enough to see was the DVD release from Retromedia. This digitally mastered letterbox transfer of the film is currently the best print available. The DVD comes complete with a number of special features including, a Gladiator Trailer Collection, an exclusive stills gallery, an Italian language sequence of the film, a clip of Gordon Mitchell titled “Goliath & The Cheerleaders” taken from the movie “Bikini Drive-In” and a special video featurette titled “Gordon Mitchell In His Own Words”. The featurette is a brief but informative interview where Gordon talks frankly about his film career in Italian cinema and his newfound passion for art. The Gladiator Trailer Collection includes 6 rare previews consisting of  “Goliath And The Vampires” (Gordon Scott), “Goliath And The Dragon” (Mark Forrest),”Goliath And The Sins Of Babylon” (Mark Forrest), “Samson & The 7 Miracles Of The World” (Gordon Scott), “The Witch's Curse” (Kirk Morris) and of course “The Giant Of Metropolis”. If you are a fan of 1960's Italian peplums and Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers type Sci-Fi / adventure then you are sure to get a kick out of this film as it is a good blend of both.
