FACT FILE :

* At age 18, Andrew went to New York University as a theatre major. There he appeared in a number of Broadway shows.

* In 1983 he won a lead role in the film "Class" opposite Rob Lowe & Jacqueline Bisset. This was the beginning of a promising film career.

* In 1985 he was one of the stars in the popular brat pack movie "St. Elmo's Fire". He was also featured in John Parr's "St. Elmo's Fire: Man In Motion" music video clip.

* In 1986 he co-starred with teen queen Molly Ringwald in the teen classic "Pretty in Pink". He followed this success with another fine performance in the comedy Box office smash "Mannequin" (1987) for which he won the Best Actor award at the "Fantafestival".

* Also in 1987, Andrew McCarthy starred with Robert Downey Jr. & Jami Gertz in the teen drama "Less Than Zero".

* In 1989 Andrew McCarthy demonstrated his comedic talent with a hilarious performance in the hit comedy "Weekend At Bernies". The film was such a success that a sequel, "Weekend At Bernies II" followed in 1993.

* Throughout the 90's & new millennium Andrew McCarthy has appeared in a number of independent films & made for TV Movies, most of them being dramatic roles.

EARLY YEARS :
For the first 15 years of his life, Andrew lived in Westfield, New Jersey. He then moved to Bernardsville, New Jersey, where he attended Pingry School. It was a prep school which gave him the opportunity to act in plays & musicals. Apart from acting, Andrew also enjoyed playing basketball in his youth.
