* C. Thomas Howell's father, Chris Howell is a stunt coordinator.

* C. Thomas Howell was a junior rodeo circuit champion. From 1978-1980 the California Junior Rodeo Association declared him the "All-Around Cowboy".

* After a bit-part in the made for TV movie "It Happened One Christmas" (1977), C. Thomas Howell had to wait 5 years before being offered another small role, this time in Steven Spielberg's blockbuster fantasy "E.T. The Extraterrestrial" (1982).

* After the success of E.T., C. Thomas Howell was able to move into bigger and better roles. His big break came when he was a given a starring role in "The Outsiders" (1983), the teen film that featured the ensemble cast of Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, Patrick Swayze and Ralph Macchio.

* More film roles followed in 1984, "Tank" with James Garner, and two teen flicks with Patrick Swayze, "Grandview U.S.A." & "Red Dawn".

* In 1985 C. Thomas Howell rose to leading man status with a starring role in the teen comedy
"Secret Admirer", opposite Kelly Preston and Lori Loughlin.

* 2 more big screen films followed in 1986, the action thriller, "The Hitcher" with Rutger Hauer & the surprise hit of the year "Soul Man" opposite Rae Dawn Chong who would later become his wife.

* In 1988 C. Thomas Howell had the opportunity to star opposite legendary Hollywood screen siren Ann-Margret in the romantic comedy "A Tiger's Tale". His "Secret Admirer" co-star Kelly Preston also starred.

* In 1989 C. Thomas Howell appeared with Michael York & Richard Chamberlain in "The Return Of The Musketeers", the follow-up swashbuckler to the two successful musketeer films of the 1970's.

* Throughout the 90's and into the new millennium C. Thomas Howell continued to work mainly in independent films and TV shows, many of which have been action thrillers and dramas. During this period he also tried his hand at directing and has become the owner/producer of Buckwheat Films.

* In 2003 C. Thomas Howell is scheduled to return in "The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting", the long awaited sequel to the 1986 cult hit.
