ROB LOWE at HOLLYWOOD TEEN MOVIES

* As a small child Rob moved from Charlottesville Virginia to Dayton Ohio.
* Rob Lowe is deaf in his right ear.
* Rob began modelling as a young boy and broke into acting in his teens.

* Rob's acting career began with small TV roles in the late 1970s.

* 1983 was Lowe's big year when he won a role in Francis Ford Coppola's "The Outsiders". It was this film that not only launched his career but also the career's of other young stars such as Tom Cruise, Ralph Macchio & Emilio Estevez.

* Rob followed his work in "The Outsiders" with another solid performance in the film "Class" (1983) with Jacqueline Bisset & Andrew McCarthy.

* During the 80's Rob was a member of the famous group of young actors known as the "Brat Pack". This group included Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Judd Nelson & Ally Sheedy to name just a few.

* Lowe was listed as one of twelve "Promising New Actors of 1984" in John Willis' Screen World.

* In 1985 he starred with his fellow Brat Packer's in the popular cult film "St. Elmo's Fire". He also appeared in John Parr's "Man In Motion", the music video & theme song of "St. Elmo's Fire".

* In 1987 Rob was nominated for a best supporting actor Golden Globe award, for his performance as a retarded youth in "Square Dance".

* In 1988, Rob was mixed up in a sex-scandal, involving a videotape & a minor, for which he did 20 hours of community service.

* Rob has tried very hard to clean up his image & in the 90's he has re-emerged as a clean cut, husband and father to sons Edward Matthew Lowe (born: 1993) & John Owen Lowe (born: 1995).

* Rob is the brother-in-law of Academy Award winning actress Hilary Swank.

* In 1997 he auditioned for a role in the film "Titanic". The part he was going for eventually went to Billy Zane.

* In 1999, Rob's friend Mike Myers helped him resurrected his career by casting him as the young Robert Wagner in "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me".

* In 2000 he was voted one of the 50 most beautiful people in the World by People Magazine.

* In 2002 it had been reported that Rob quit the TV series "The West Wing" after a pay dispute.
