The third & final installment of the "Scream" trilogy sees more blood curdling chills & thrills. In this one the killer starts to murder the cast of a film crew. If you liked the first two, you are sure to enjoy this one. Neve Campbell once again reprises her role as Sidney but a bonus in "Scream 3" is the appearance of 80's teen star Patrick Dempsey in his small role as Detective Mark Kincaid. "Scream 3" was made on a budget of $40 million & grossed over $89 million in the US alone, proving once again that the "Scream" trilogy has a huge fan base. Who knows when a second sequel can generate that sort of income fans may one day get to see Scream 4?
Footnote: Fans did get another one. In 2011 Scream 4 was released & the slasher franchise is now back with a vengeance. Maybe a Part 5 will follow? Anything is possible.....
Scream (1996) [Blu-ray] Director Wes Craven's slyly self-referential shocker follows a group of teenage horror film fans in a small California town who are systematically slaughtered by a mysterious murderer. Newscaster Courteney Cox thinks this killer also did in Neve Campbell's mother the year before, even though the supposed murderer is behind bars. Skeet Ulrich, David Arquette, and Drew Barrymore co-star. 111 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English DTS HD 5.1 Master Audio; Subtitles: English, Spanish; audio commentary by Craven; featurette; behind-the-scenes footage. Scream 2 (1997) [Blu-ray] The ghost-faced killer from the first film is gone, and the survivors are trying to get on with their lives. But when the debut of a horror movie based on the murders called "Stab" is marred by copycat killings, it becomes clear to everyone that a new round of terror is about to begin. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Jerry O'Connell, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Jada Pinkett star in this spooky, witty sequel. 120 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English DTS HD 5.1 Master Audio; Subtitles: English, Spanish; audio commentary by Craven, others; deleted scenes; outtakes; featurette; theatrical trailer. Scream 3 (2000) [Blu-ray] The third time is a bloody charm in Wes Craven's cut-and-cut-up series. Neve Campbell's Sidney, now a recluse working for a women's crisis hot-line, travels to Hollywood, where cast members of film-within-a film "Stab 3" are being slaughtered and pictures of Campbell's mother are being left at the crime scene. Courteney Cox Arquette, David Arquette, Patrick Dempsey, and the stunning Parker Posey co-star, with several surprising cameos. 117 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English DTS HD 5.1 Master Audio; Subtitles: English, Spanish; audio commentary by Craven, others; deleted scenes; outtakes; behind-the-scenes footage; theatrical trailer. Scream 4 (2011) [Blu-ray] Director Wes Craven and stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette return for this third sequel to the self-referential, tongue-in-cheek slasher franchise. Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Anna Paquin, and Kristen Bell co-star. 111 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English. Scream: 5-Film Set [Blu-ray] Three-disc set includes "Scream" (1996), "Scream 2," and "Scream 3," plus the documentaries "Scream: The Inside Story" (2011) and "Still Screaming: The Ultimate Scary Movie Retrospective" (2011).
