Inspired by the 1975-76 television series, and retaining the names of some of the characters from that show, S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons and Tactics) is an action thriller about the specialised group of law enforcers trained to step in and take over the trickier and more dangerous police tasks.

During a hostage/robbery standoff, S.W.A.T. team members, Jim Street (Colin Farrell) and his partner, Brian Gamble (Jeremy Renner) make a bad move, resulting in the wounding of a hostage. Street agrees to a demotion, but Gamble quits the force with a very large chip on his shoulder.

Street’s decision to stay pays off when he is recruited by veteran commander, Dan “Hondo” Harrelson (Samuel L Jackson), who has been assigned to select five members for a new elite team. Joining Street in the handpicked group are Deacon “Deke” Kaye (LL Cool J), Chris Sanchez (Michelle Rodriguez), Michael Boxer (Brian Van Holt) and TJ McCabe (Josh Charles).

It’s Hondo’s team that must guard Montel while he is transported out of LA and into a federal penitentiary…but with a lure of $100 million, armed mercenaries are out in force to ensure they don’t make it.
