Book Description: "Stallone - A Rocky Life"
With his sculpted physique and brooding good looks, Sylvester Stallone remains the quintessential movie star. His love life has drawn as much attention as his $2 billion-grossing films--after a long-suffering first wife and a philandering second, his current spouse is a supermodel 25 years his junior. And between each marriage, he has courted a catwalk's worth of women straight from the covers of Vogue. Now, in this new biography--based on exclusive interviews with Stallone, his outspoken mother, his second wife, and a host of fellow celebrities and friends--this most private of public figures is revealed. Frank Sanello looks not only at Stallone's personal life, which fans will find as compelling as any of his action pictures, but also at his film career, from cartoon icon to failed comic actor to his latest incarnation as overweight anti-hero in the critically acclaimed "Cop Land." A thoughtful, highly engaging portrait. Frank Sanello has written biographies of Sharon Stone, Tom Cruise, Eddie Murphy, Will Smith, and Steven Spielberg. A former film critic for the Los Angeles Daily News, his work has also appeared in The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and People.

Book Description: "First Blood" by David Morrell
From New York Times bestselling author David Morrell comes the novel upon which the box office superhit Rambo was based. First came the man: a young wanderer in a fatigue coat and long hair. Then came the legend, as John Rambo sprang up from the pages of First Blood to take his place in the American cultural landscape. This remarkable novel pits a young Vietnam veteran against a small town cop who doesn't know whom he's dealing with -- or how far Rambo will take him into a life-and-death struggle through the woods, hills, and caves of rural Kentucky.

: Survival is a killer
"D-Tox" known in some parts of the world as "Eye See You" is a gritty cop thriller from the makers of "I Know What You Did Last Summer". In the slasher film tradition the bodies pile up high, only this time most of them are cops. Sylvester Stallone stars as Jake Malloy a cop on the trail of a serial killer whose thrill is to kill cops, execution style. After Stallone's girlfriend becomes one of the victims, his life takes a turn for the worst. When he attempts to commit suicide, Stallone is checked into a D-Tox clinic for rehabilitation only to find that the cop killer is masquerading as one of the patients.

Sylvester Stallone's performance is admirable & the film has enough thrills & chills for fans, but ultimately the plot is predictable & the script ordinary. The film's setting of the D-Tox clinic, in a remote icy outpost, in a snowy wasteland, is interesting, but the group therapy sessions & the general running of the D-Tox clinic is somewhat unbelievable. Kris Kristofferson is unfortunately wasted in a small role as the head doctor of the D-Tox clinic. Nevertheless, Sylvester Stallone exudes screen presence & is magnetic enough to keep viewers, particularly fans, entertained for most of the film's running time.
"D-Tox" DVD Synopsis:
Recovering from the psychological effects of witnessing a brutal crime, FBI agent Jake Malloy (Sylvester Stallone) checks into a rehabilitation clinic for police officers. There, stripped of their defences, including badges and weapons, they can dry out and begin to face their futures. However, the therapeutic sanctuary soon becomes a nightmarish prison when a major snowstorm cuts off the clinic from any communication to the outside world. Patients begin to turn up dead amidst suspicious circumstances and it becomes clear that there is indeed a killer among them...
