The Mark of Zorro:
Tony's Comments

"The Mark of Zorro" is a highly entertaining Zorro adventure, considered by many to be the definitive version of the masked rider. Tyrone Power fits the bill perfectly and the film features some of the best swordplay sequences ever put on screen. Both Tyrone Power as Zorro and Basil Rathbone as the villainous Captain Esteban Pasquale were accomplished swordsmen and their final dual is nothing short of breathtaking. Also, the film received an Academy Award nomination for best original music score. "The Mark of Zorro" is an enjoyable swashbuckling adventure for all ages. Younger viewers, if you enjoyed the 1998 Antonio Banderas version "The Mask of Zorro", make sure you check this one out, it is just as entertaining, even in glorious black and white.

Upon his return from Spain, Diego realizes that Captain Pasquale is terrorizing the district and levying unreasonable taxes. Disguised as Zorro - a masked Robin Hood-like swashbuckler - the young Spaniard menaces the local authorities to the delight of all the peasants. In the meantime, posing as the inept fop, he is able to move through society without being suspected.
