"Trinity" star Bud Spencer is back in the saddle again, this time without his good pal Terence Hill who has been replaced by an Indian sidekick, played by Moroccan actor, Amidou. "Buddy Goes West" is a light-hearted slapstick comedy western, full of the trademark gags & punch ups that helped make Spencer infamous. The film is directed by Michelle Lupo, the man responsible for other Bud Spencer solo outings including "They Called Him Bulldozer" (1978), "The Sheriff And The Satellite Kid" (1979), "Why Did You Pick On Me?" (1980) & "Bomber" (1982). Look out for well known Australian celebrity boxer Joe Bugner as he joins in the fun as Sheriff Bronson (no relation to Charles). Like many of the Spencer films this one is not without an eating sequence. In one of the film's standout moments Spencer & Bugner battle it out in a hilarious eating competition.  If you have 90 minutes to spare & you are looking for a few good laughs, "Spencer-style", then this rollicking western is for you.

Bud Spencer returned to the western comedy with this hilarious outing about a drifiting outlaw who is mistaken for a doctor by a small town after his Indian companion steals a bag of surgical tools by accident. When the town comes under fire from a hoard of outlaws he shows what he really can do: bust some heads. Lots of very funny bits including a hilarious eating contest between Buddy & the local sheriff.
"Buddy Goes West"  Tony's Comments:
Buddy Goes West(1981) VHS
In this sagebrush farce, Bud Spencer is a sharp-shooting drifter who is mistaken for a doctor after his loyal Indian companion is discovered to have a bag of surgical tools--which he stole, of course. But the case of mistaken identity soon proves problematical when Spencer is called into action to defend the town from a gang of outlaws. With Amidou, Riccardo Pizzuti; music by Ennio Morricone. 90 min. Dubbed in English.
